Deep South celebrates 4th with a bang and a roar

LOXLEY, Ala. — Deep South Speedway in Loxley is planning its first “Freedom Celebration” July 4 with racing, a concert and fireworks.

“We are going to have six classes of racing,” said spokesperson Isaiah Day. The racing begins at 5 p.m.

According to Day, there will be a concert featuring country artist Colt Ford at 9 p.m. Ford, who Day describes as an “up and coming” country performer wrote the theme song, "Buck 'Em," for the Professional Bull Riders.

Ford will also share the stage with Cledus T. Judd, who has scheduled a new CD release, Polyrically Uncorrect" for June 30.

“He’s a lot of fun,” said Day.

After the concert, there will be an exhibition of fireworks.

Grandstand seating for adults is $15 and youngsters 6-12 years of age pay $7. Children 5 and younger are admitted free of charge. The Speedway will also have “Pit or All-Acesses Passes” According to Day, a Pit Pass allows you to be stage side on the front straight during the concert. The ticket prices are for ages 13 & up, $30 and $15 for youngsters 1- 12. Children under 1 year are admitted at no charge.
