Decoy Bar and Grill opens in downtown Fairhope

Posted

The Decoy Bar and Grill is among the newest additions in downtown Fairhope.

It is located at 311 Fairhope Avenue, a historic building in downtown Fairhope dating back to 1921, and most recently housed Bone and Barrel prior to Decoy Bar and Grill opening its doors.

The building has undergone extensive remodeling, with owner Pete Carnley emphasizing that they want the place to be more of an entertainment venue, having added more space on to the back deck, including building a big stage with lights. Drawing on his music background, Carnley said the venue features single acts on Wednesdays and full bands on Saturdays.

"Half of my life I spent on the other side playing in the bands, traveling and playing," Carnley said. "I know what the club needs to look like and I know how to attract the people."

For food, Decoy is mainly serving bar food for now but Carnley said the menu could expand over time. Their menu includes chicken tenders, wings, pizza, hot dogs, mega pretzels with cheese sauce, mozzarella sticks and fried pickles.

There is also a balcony upstairs with an extensive view of Fairhope Avenue. Carnley said they plan to use it as a rentable venue for private events and for holidays, such as during Fairhope's annual Mardi Gras parades.

The Decoy Bar and Grill is open Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Carnley said they will soon also be open on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
