Dawn Kathalene Robinson Conway, 66, of Athens, Alabama, passed away on Nov. 22, 2025. She was born on Jul. 17, 1959, at Pensacola Naval Station to Larry Robinson and Imogene Hadley.
Dawn worked as a Computer Data Analyst at the Naval Research Laboratory and at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. She was one of the early principles on the Special Sensor Microwave Instrument (SSM/I) for almost 40 years and was greatly admired by colleges for her contributions, accomplishments, and attention to detail in Atmospheric Research. Her most cherished pastimes include fishing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 48 years, Pete Conway, daughters Kaitlin Newbrander (Timothy) of Falls Church, Virginia, and Beckie Wheat (Jeremy) of Moundville, Alabama, her brother, Bobby Robinson of Athens, Alabama, and her granddaughters, Lexi and Chloe. She was preceded in death by her mother, Imogene Hadley, her father, Larry Robinson, and her grandson, JC Wheat.
A service to honor Dawn’s legacy will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Dec. 13 with visitation at 10 a.m. and a celebration of life at 11 a.m., with Chaplin Dan Cresswell presiding.
