David Lynn Barton passed away February 22, 2021 in Fairhope, AL. After a courageous and hopeful battle with cancer during the last year of his life, he died peacefully at home surrounded by family and close friends by his side. David was born on May 3, 1952 to Donald K. Barton and Geraldine M. Barton and was the oldest of 3 children. David was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He worked his entire career as a Public Works Inspector for engineering firms, and most recently the City of Gulf Shores. In his retirement he continued to work as Vice President and consultant for MOWA Development in Gautier, MS. David loved being with his friends who he also considered family. He provided a contagious laugh to all and was always the life of the party! He was a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather that always did everything he could to take care of, teach and guide his children and grandchildren. David was a strong and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many! He is preceded in death by his father, Donald K. Barton. Barton is survived by his Mother, Geraldine M. Barton, Sister, Barbara Ann Barton and Brother William Keith Barton. He is also survived by his Daughter, Bonnie Barnes Duke and Grandchildren, Jessica Lauren Leonard, William Jackson Duke and Chloe Holland Parker. David will be cremated, leaving his remains to be spread during celebration at his retreat on the Pascagoula River in Gautier, MS.
