David Gordon Allen Jr., 69, of Nicholson, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016.
David was born in Mobile Ala. to David Gordon Allen Sr. and Margaret Belew Allen.
David served for 20 years in the United States Air Force from 1965-1985, and went on to work with the UGA Athletics Department from 1986-2006.
David was a member at Jefferson First United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees.
In addition to his parents, David is survived by his wife, Alice Allen; children, Stephen C. Guest (Misty) and Christa Allen; siblings, Leslie “Bubba” (Becky) Allen, Pam (Steve) Lauer and Keith (Carol) Allen; grandchildren, Gavin Guest, Avery Allen, Addison Allen and Garrett Gailey; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, Feb. 26, from 6-8 p.m. at Lord and Stephens, West.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Chris Laskey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospice House in Athens, Ga., Jefferson First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, Ga., or to a favorite charity.
