DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and RecruitMilitary will host a National Virtual Veterans Career Fair April 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Central, offering free access to job opportunities and career services for veterans and the broader military community.
The online event is open to veterans, their spouses, active-duty service members and members of the National Guard and Reserve. More than 43 employers are expected to participate, representing industries that include construction, health care, administration and logistics, with positions ranging from entry-level roles to senior management.
In addition to job openings, attendees will have access to a range of support services at no cost. Those services include career counseling, resume assistance and networking opportunities with fellow veterans and military personnel. Participants also can receive guidance on Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and claims.
The career fair is part of DAV’s broader employment initiative, which continues to expand nationwide. The organization plans to sponsor more than 90 in-person and virtual job fairs this year. Since launching the initiative in 2014, DAV reports nearly 274,000 attendees and more than 167,000 job offers connected to its events.
Efforts to strengthen employer engagement also have grown. Last year, DAV introduced “The Veteran Advantage: DAV Guide to Hiring and Retaining Veterans with Disabilities,” a resource designed to help employers better understand the value of hiring veterans, particularly the nearly 4 million living with service-connected disabilities. The guide outlines best practices and tools aimed at improving recruitment and retention while addressing common misconceptions.
Jeremy Yost, DAV’s national employment director and a service-disabled Marine Corps veteran, is available to discuss hiring trends affecting veterans and military spouses, as well as employment resources and job opportunities in the Central region and nationwide. He can be reached at (859) 442-2061 to arrange interviews.
Registration for the National Virtual Veterans Career Fair and additional no-cost resources for veterans and their families are available at www.jobs.dav.org.
