ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Prayers and support continue for Samantha Dyess, an honor student at Foley High School who was involved in a tragic automobile accident on June 14.
Dyess was driving on Boris Road in Elberta when she lost control of her car, hit an incline and flipped. She suffered traumatic injuries and has been on life support at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola since the accident occurred.
Dyess’ mother and stepfather are familiar faces in this area. Her mother, Suzie Miller, is an employee of the city of Orange Beach, working in the refuse department.
Don Miller, a former city employee, was also the owner of Snapper’s, a local tavern in Orange Beach, for several years.
David Dyess, Samantha’s father is presently stationed in Iraq, working as a civilian contractor.
Samantha Dyess will be a junior at Foley High School in the fall. During her sophomore year she was a member of the varsity volleyball team and a member of the National Honor Society.
Even though the accident happened during the summer months while the kids are not in session, Foley Principal Russ Moore said they have felt the affect.
“She is a student that is very well thought of by the teachers, coaches and by her fellow students at this school,” Moore said. “We are all thinking of her and praying for her and hope that she will get better.”
Those wanting to assist the family in offsetting medical costs can do so through a fund set up at Visions Bank.
Any branch will accept deposits made to the account of Suzanne Miller for benefit of Samantha Dyess.
