After a year of construction, the first phase of improvements at Bayfront Park in Daphne wrapped up and reopened to the public Friday, Jan. 5.

The City of Daphne started the project to improve Bayfront Park at the end of 2022 with the closure of Bayfront Park Drive.

Improvements to Bayfront Park Drive include on-street parking, pavers, street lighting and the unseen improvement, underground utilities. Improvements completed inside the park include additional parking, landscaping, benches, lighting and pier repairs.

The first phase of the project cost $3.5 million.

MORE TO COME

Daphne has more improvements planned for Bayfront Park.

The city is working on plans to use $7.2 million in Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) funding to build an amphitheater, pier extension and boardwalk along the bay.
