A Daphne tradition, Santa’s Snow & Movie Night, has ended, but it is being replaced with an exciting new tradition.
Ice Skating with Santa is a new, free event inside the Daphne Civic Center. An artificial ice rink that measures 50 feet by 60 feet will provide skaters the chance to glide on real ice skates. You will find Santa sitting in his new chair in the lobby waiting to hear your Christmas wish list.
Daphne residents have the Daphne events and marketing team to thank for this fun event. Ange Baggett, director of events and marketing, said the snow event ended due to the rental company selling the snow-making machine. Luckily, the Daphne team was given enough notice to brainstorm innovative ideas.
The faux ice performs just like real ice, and skaters will be able to rent skates and take a turn or two on the rink.
Along with Santa and the ice skating, the events team will hand out holiday treats and Daphne Fire and Police will grill hot dogs for everyone to enjoy.
“It will be a fun event and we are excited about it," Daphne Mayor Robin LeJeune said. "And it is free to the public."
