SARALAND, Ala.—Daphne's Lady Trojans swept Saraland and Vigor Thursday in a tri-match at Saraland High. Daphne defeated the host Spartans 25-20, 25-20 and outscored the Wolves 25-9, 25-10.

The Trojans' Suzanne Evans totaled 14 kills, 21 set assists and 11 digs; Hope Fulton had nine kills, one block, Kaydie Messer added 11 kills and Cierra Harris had eight kills, two aces for the evening.

Daphne head coach Coach Edoli Herrion said the Spartans forced her team to step up it's level of play.

"We got off to a very slow start against Saraland and then went point-for-point before pulling ahead. Saraland did a great job serving tough and kept us out of system. We picked up our game and I am proud of how the girls responded and finished the set."

Assistant coach Kevin Frazier said the momentum shift carried over into the Vigor match.

"We came out with a lot of intensity in the second set and got off to a 6-1 run, made some mistakes and kept the lead the entire game. I am proud we were able to finish as that's been an issue in the past.  Then in the Vigor game we were able to use our momentum and played very consistent. We utilized players in a new rotation just to try something new and the girls never let up."

The Spartans were led by Alesha Peoples' five kills, three aces, 10 digs and Avery Cooper added four kills against Daphne. But rebounded to stop Vigor 25-11, 25-14 as Peoples had 10 kills, Cooper seven kills and Kennedy Williams had five aces for Saraland.
