DAPHNE, Ala. – No. 8 Daphne rolled to a 38-6 win over Theodore in a 6A Region 1 vs. 2 showdown on Friday.

The Trojans (5-0) scored on offense, defense and special teams and forced four turnovers. Daphne also won the field position battle, with kicker Brandon Roberts recording five touchbacks and Israel Lamprakes pinning the Bobcats inside the 2 on a punt in the first half.

"Our kids came to play. I was very proud of them," Daphne head coach Glenn Vickery said. "In these non-region games sometimes you don't know, but give credit to our players. They showed up and played. We challenged them all week to play fast against a very good Theodore team."

Daphne got on the board first with a one-yard T.J. Yeldon rush. Theodore's only touchdown came on an 80-yard Chris Nelson-to-Jodeci Hackworth touchdown pass on the Bobcats' second drive.

Roberts added a 42-yard field goal before the end of the first quarter.

Near the 10 minute mark in the second quarter, Nelson mishandled a shotgun snap and Daphne's Ryan Anderson took the fumble back for a touchdown. Yeldon added another touchdown run before the half and Daphne led 24-6.

Daphne scored again when Zach Houston returned an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter. Tyrell Holloway scored from two yards out for Daphne's final touchdown of the night.

Torren McGaster had an interception and Eric Lee had a sack for Daphne.

"Our defense, other than the one big play, had a shutout," Vickery said. "You gotta give credit to our defense. Overall it was a great win. The defense picked us up tonight and special teams picked us up tonight. The offense played well, we just have to get more consistent."

Daphne hosts Satsuma in 6A Region 2 play on Friday.
