Daphne robbery suspect nabbed in Mississippi

DAPHNE, Alabama - A man suspected of two local bank robberies was apprehended Tuesday afternoon in Jackson County, Miss. after a high-speed chase and foot pursuit. Police believe David Paul Beaudoin, 48, of Detroit, Mich., was the man who robbed a Sun Trust Bank in Pensacola last Friday afternoon and a BB&T bank in Daphne Tuesday morning.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reports that a deputy attempted to pull over Beaudoin in a 1999 Buick Park Avenue after realizing it had a stolen tag. Beaudoin exited westbound I-10 onto U.S. Highway 90 and led police on a high speed chase through Pascagoula before losing control and fleeing on foot. Deputies immediately released a K-9 unit to pursue Beaudoin, who was captured within minutes. It was later discovered he was wanted in Michigan on a parole violation.

The Daphne Police Department believes Beaudoin was responsible for a bank robbery there Tuesday morning. Surveillance footage from BB&T bank showed a tall, slender, white man wearing a blue denim shirt and a black beret standing at the counter while a teller can be seen behind open drawers stuffing a large manila envelope.

Corporal Jason Vannoy of the DPD said Tuesday that a man matching Beaudoin’s description entered the bank at 9:15 a.m. through the front doors and handed a teller a note demanding cash and instructing her not to call 911. He was holding a semiautomatic handgun which he rested on a countertop while the robbery was taking place. The man left the bank on foot across Eisenhower Way heading east, where he disappeared behind a storage facility.

In Pensacola last Friday, police believe the same man entered SunTrust Bank on North Davis Highway

just before 1 p.m., handed a female teller a note demanding cash, pulled up his shirt to show a pistol tucked into his pants, and fled on foot through a neighborhood after taking an undisclosed amount of money.

Vannoy said he couldn’t speak for the FBI, “but the details of how he robbed the bank in Pensacola and the physical resemblance is very, very similar.” Vannoy said he did not know if the suspect was involved in any other robberies in the area or if any schools or daycares were locked down during the incident.

Beaudoin is currently being detained at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center facing charges of robbery, failure to stop when an officer signals and parole violations.
