DAPHNE, Ala. —After 25 years in Daphne, the city’s newest Walmart store got a facelift and local organizations and schools received grant funds from the Walmart Foundation.
Daphne High School, Spanish Fort Elementary School, the Spanish Fort Fire Department, Daphne Fire Department and Daphne Police Department all have an extra $1,000 in the bank thanks to the Walmart Foundation. The checks were handed out during the grand reopening ceremony for the Daphne retailer.
Additionally, store manager Porter Dunlap recognized five sales associates who have been a part of the store’s team since the doors first opened.
Remodeling began on the store in April and the store has been rearranged to provide a more convenient shopping experience.
According to Dunlap, the improvements made to the store include better lighting, a new layout, wider aisles, easy-to-read signage and bright paint.
Chris Weinberg, market manager for Baldwin County, said the remodel is a step toward the future and making the shopping experience better for the customers.
“This remodel started on April 15, so seven weeks ago, try to think about what the store looked like and what it looks like today. The transformation is really incredible. My hat’s off to everybody that was involved …. it is a total team effort and it always is at Walmart."
