DAPHNE, Ala. - Daphne Police have made an arrest in the investigation of a fatal car crash that happened late Wednesday night on I-10.
Vanessa Marie Stuart, 30, of Daphne was arrested on charges of manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol. The accident occured around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday near mile marker 37 on I-10.
Information provided by Daphne Police Capt. Judson Beedy said that speed and alcohol were believed to be a factor in the crash. There no other injuries or people associated with the crash.
The victim, later identified as Tiffany Howell of Orange Beach, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
Tika Campbell of Orange Beach said family and friends are deeply saddened by Howell's death.
"I'm in total shock," Campbell said. "She was truly a great friend, person, mother and soon to be a grandmother. So sad."
Campbell said her friend was known for making those around her feel special.
"I read in post from a high shcool friend that 'Tiffany was an ordinary person that made you feel extraordinary.'" Campbell said. "That couldn't have been more true. She really touched every person's life she met."
