On Jan. 5, Weston Vincent Slade was in Baldwin County Court being sentenced to a 3 year term for violation of his probation stemming from a previous arrest of Theft of Property 1st degree.

After Judge Jody Bishop announced the sentence, Slade fled the court house and began eluding pursuing corrections officers.

After several minutes of hiding from officials Weston Slade was observed getting into the trunk of a vehicle at 106 North White Avenue in Bay Minette. The incident was captured on a video from an area business.

The vehicle was later discovered to be driven by Weston Slade’s sister, Jamison Slade.

Deputies responded to the Slade’s home address at 8743 Parliament Circle in Daphne where upon their arrival was met by Susan Slade, Weston’s mother.

Susan Slade was at the sentencing hearing and was aware of the three year sentence given to her son, she also witnessed him escapee the court house and was aware of the imminent arrest of her son.

Deputies discovered that Weston was in the home and attempted to apprehend him when Susan Weston hindered his apprehension. Weston then fled the residence and a large scale man-hunt began.

After approximately two hours Weston Slade was taken into custody in the Belforest Community.

Weston Slade will be charged with first degree escape, resisting arrest and attempting to elude law enforcement officers. Susan and Jamison Slade have been arrested and charged with Hindering apprehension of an escapee.

All three will go before a judge and have a bond set.

Assisting the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department was the ALEA State Helicopter and the Atmore Correctional Facility tracking dogs.
