BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Arraignment is set Feb. 16 for a Daphne man who allegedly beat his father unconscious with a board, pushed and verbally abused his mother and cut phone lines and the tires of her vehicle to prevent her from leaving her Loxley residence.

Steven Michael Zuniga, 29, of Geneva Drive, was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with second- and third-degree domestic violence in the Aug. 29 incident, according to Baldwin County District Court records.

According to a complaint filed by Loxley Police Lt. Raymond Lovell, Zuniga hit his father, Brian Zuniga, repeatedly over the head with a board and continued striking him after he lost consciousness.

Zuniga also allegedly pushed or shoved his mother, Diane Bruns Dejonge, during the domestic altercation. He allegedly cut her vehicle’s tires and destroyed her residential phone lines.

Zuniga was indicted Dec. 28, and remains incarcerated at Baldwin County Corrections Center on a $20,000 bail set by the Baldwin County grand jury, according to jail records.
