DAPHNE, Ala. —Among the inductees welcomed into the Daphne High School Hall of Fame Friday night were the father-daughter pair Chris Daugherty and former Daphne High cheerleader Caroline Daugherty Johnson.
Chris Daugherty was a fixture for the baseball Trojans in the mid-to-late 1990s through the 2001 6A state championship season. He spent countless hours volunteering on behalf of the program and served as the Baseball Trojans Booster Club president for two years. He was also instrumental in helping make many improvements to Trojan Field making it into one of the premier high school baseball diamonds in Alabama.
Caroline was a four-year cheerleader and senior co-captain until graduation in 1995 and is also being recognized for her dedication to community as well as school and extra-curricular service. She graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and is now a kindergarten teacher in Houston, Texas where she was named Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2010.
Chris and his wife Brenda Daugherty also have two sons who graduated from Daphne. Matt played football and Scott played baseball for the Trojans. Matt and Scott finished in 2000 and 2001.
Also inducted are Karon Bishop, Jeff Butts, Rick Chancery, Clay Cleveland, Denise D’Oliveira, Thomas Doyle—his daughter Kimberly is already a DHS Hall of Famer, Andy Jones, George Rudolph, Fred Small, Terry Thompson, Jacy Todd, Amanda Worshum Williams and Anthony Williams.
