Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year has appeared in 30 games this season, starting 22.
Sunday’s highlight reel included a barehanded catch from the mound with a throw to first that garnered reactions from teammates and commentators.
“I’m not gonna lie, I did surprise myself,” Moten said when asked about the play after the game. “It kind of just happened, and then when I realized I had the ball in my hand, I was like, “OK, now I got to throw it.” And the girl’s pretty fast, so I just kind of just threw it and hoped Brooke caught it.”
Alabama did not give up a run in the Regional, beating USC Upstate for the first time with an 8-0 run-rule win in five innings before shutting out Belmont 3-0. The Tide now face LSU in the Super Regional. The Tigers, seeded 16 overall, won its regional with a 7-2 victory over Virginia Tech.
The winner of the Super Regional matchup will head to Oklahoma City May 28-June 5 for the Women’s College World Series.
