Daphne council members rightfully opposed service road

I can’t see the wisdom of the decision of the mayor of Daphne to revitalize the service road from the Bass Pro Shops to the Eastern Shore Center.

To commit $1 million of money not budgeted is a legislative decision that is a responsibility of the City Council. The property in question is on the north side of I-10 and in the city of Spanish Fort with the exception of TimberCreek subdivision whose residents have been very vocally against the project.

Something is very strange in this proposal of giving $1 million to build a road that only will collect two Spanish Fort shopping centers.

I am very proud of the Daphne City Council (with the exception of one member) for voting not to revitalize the ordinance to spend those funds.

In lieu of this road project, the funds could be used to pave streets in the city that would better serve our citizens.
