Daphne City Council’s community fund almost depleted; after a $10,000 allocation July 18, the account has $500 left

DAPHNE, Ala.— The Daphne City Council on July 18 voted 5-0 to approve an agreement with Ecumenical Ministries Inc. The city will enter into a service agreement for $10,000, which was appropriated in the budget for this fiscal year. This is the amount typically given to the entity for work done in the community.

Each year, the council puts aside a certain amount of money in the fiscal-year budget for donations to community entities like Ecumenical Ministries, Prodisee Pantry and the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program. This year, the council denied the full requested amount from the MBNEP, which was more than double the amount the organization asked for in years past.
