DAPHNE, Ala. — The Keeping Kids Safe Project by S.I.P. Kids hosted events Sept. 10 and 11 at Eastern Shore Toyota in Daphne.

The event provided safety information to families, as well as free digital fingerprinting and photos for all children who attended.

Free face-painting, balloons, cookies and refreshments inside the auto dealership’s showroom comprised the event.

Around 115 kids attended the two-day event, lead event coordinator Jacki Powers said. S.I.P. Kids travels nationally, bringing the event to around 50 cities, Powers said. The event averages around 200 kids, and the size of the cities they visit varies greatly.

“Our goal is to provide as much safety information to families as we can,” Powers said. “We also want to demonstrate the different enforcement agencies that families are provided.”

“So many children are reported missing each day in the U.S.,” S.I.P. Kids said in a statement. “Police officials say that time is crucial in the recovery of missing children. One major problem that costs precious time is gathering current photographs, fingerprints and statistical information to assist law enforcement agencies.”

The organization invites all Daphne organizations to educate children and their families on how to avoid unsafe situations.

S.I.P. Kids is in communication with the auto dealer to plan the next event, but right now nothing is official, Powers said.
