FOLEY, Alabama — Daphne's T.J. Yeldon carried 32 times for 315 yards and three touchdowns as the Trojans cruised past 6A Region 2 rival Foley 35-14 on Friday.

"I played tremendous but I have to give it to my wide receivers and my offensive line, they blocked well," Yeldon said. "They blocked their best game ever. It was a great feeling to get the win."

With the win the Trojans (3-0, 2-0) have beaten Foley five straight times, including twice last season.

"We were focused all week so I knew we were going to pull this one out," Yeldon said. "They were talking a lot of trash in the media, in the newspapers saying we weren't going to win, so we came out and pulled it out."

Foley took an early lead on a 99-yard touchdown drive on its first possession. On second down at its own 8, Foley's Maison Taylor took a keeper 75 yards, then threw to Bob Pugh for a 9-yard touchdown two plays later.

Jonathan McGaster scored a 3-yard touchdown for Daphne on the ensuing drive, and Yeldon scored his first touchdown with 2:41 to play in the second quarter. He carried 20 times for 178 yards in the first half.

Yeldon scored again on Daphne's first drive in the second half. He carried six times on a seven-play drive and scored on a 19-yard rush. Brandon Roberts' extra point put Daphne up 21-7.

The Trojans scored on a 17-yard T.J. Fleeton pass to Chris Sain on their next possession at 2:38 in the third.

On Foley's next drive Taylor connected with Demarcus Bingham for a 53-yard score. Wyatt Hubbard's extra point made the score 28-14 Daphne.

Yeldon's final touchdown came on a 31-yard rush in the fourth.

"It was a lot more than just T.J.," Daphne coach Glenn Vickery said. "When you beat Foley you've got to have more than one player. We had a lot of players to show up ready to play and T.J. was one of them. You gotta have an offensive line, and our defense bent some but didn't break. It was a total team effort."

Both teams play Region 2 games next week. Daphne hosts Williamson, while Foley visits McGill-Toolen on Friday.
