John T. “J.T.” Daniel Jr., 77, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 after a lengthy illness.
He lived a majority of his life in Auburn where he was a member of the Auburn Church of Christ.
He attended Georgia Tech University in Atlanta. He retired from the banking business in 1994, where he served as vice president of the Alabama Exchange Bank in Tuskegee and later was with SouthTrust Bank of Auburn.
He was honorably discharged serving as an Airman First Class in the U.S. Air Force in November 1953. He moved to Atmore due to illness and later to Mobile to an assisted living extended care facility.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Hart Daniel.
Survivors include five children, John “Danny” (Deborah) Daniel III of Atmore; Diane Barron of Gulf Shores, Dennis (Sherry) Daniel of Atmore; Dawn McKenzie of Gulf Shores and William “Doug” (Becky) Daniel of Mobile; seven granchildren, Levy Daniel, Allison Barron, Travis and Josh Daniel, Damian and Desiree McKenzie, and Will Daniel; two brothers, Jerald (Janelle) Lee of Navarre, Fla., and Floyd (Juanita) Daniel of Searcy, Ark., numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at St. Paul Independent Church in Atmore with his brother, Floyd Daniel, officiating.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Ashbury Manor and Odyssey Hospice for their care and assistance in the last months of his life.

Cremation arrangements are by Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Atmore.
