Mrs. Daisy Young Armstead, 57, of Perdido, died Tuesday, Feb.14, 2012 at Mobile Infirmary.

Mrs. Armstead was a lifelong resident of Perdido and a member of the St. Thomas AME Zion Church in Perdido. She was a graduate of Baldwin County High School in 1972 and had worked in housekeeping for Oakwood Nursing Home and William F. Green Veterans’ Home in Bay Minette.

She was preceded in death by one son, Seneca D. Young; her parents, Ruper M. and Rosetta P. Young; grandfather, Thomas Packer; one sister, Angela Colby; and two brothers, Wayne Packer and John W. Packer.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Armstead of Perdido; one daughter, Veronica Young (Winston) Crenshaw of Perdido; two sons, Derrick L. (Laurel) Young of Bay Minette and Kendall M. Packer of Perdido; four sisters, Sharon (Fabbain) Pearson of Missouri City, Texas, Mary Faqin of Perdido, Patsy (Elbert) Dozier of Mobile, and Wanda P. (Leroy) Knight of Montgomery; Lamar Packer of Perdido; her grandmother, Emily Packer of Perdido; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the St. Thomas AME Zion Church in Perdido with the Rev. Humphrey Shuford officiating. Inhumation will be in the Morning Dove Cemetery in Perdido. Public viewing will be held Sunday from 2 p.m.to 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home, Atmore. Her body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
