BAY MINETTE — Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department is one of 18 Alabama fire departments selected to receive funding from the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security.
In a news release, U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, (R- Ala.), announced the award of $1.5 million to 18 fire departments in Alabama from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.
“Firefighters are in the field every day protecting our citizens,” Shelby said in the release. “We have a responsibility to ensure that our first responders are adequately prepared to respond to any event. These grants are evidence of our nation’s continued commitment to our first responders.”
Crossroads will recieve $38,000, which will fund operations and safety.
