FAIRHOPE, Ala. — A Fairhope teen died late Monday night from injuries she sustained in a car accident. Baton Rouge, La. police said Tuesday that 18-year-old Morgan Elizabeth Thompson of Fairhope had pulled her car into traffic when she was hit broadside by a pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Kevin J. Kearney.

Sgt. Don Kelly said 51-year-old Mary Thompson, the victim's mother, who had traveled with her to attend a college orientation, is in stable condition at a Baton Rouge hospital.

Kearney was treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to police.

Thompson was co-valedictorian of the Fairhope High School Class of 2010.
