The country music world has lost a legend. Toby Keith passed away surrounded by his family on Feb. 5.
In 2022, Keith made his stomach cancer diagnosis public. He spoke openly about his treatment in interviews, but he did not let his medical condition keep him from his music.
In November 2023, Keith released his album “100% Songwriter” and in December 2023, he took the stage in Las Vegas for what would be his last three concerts. While in Las Vegas he was recognized by Pandora for his music having been streamed 3 billion times on the music platform.
While Keith was a country music legend, he was also a business owner. It was business that brought his name to The Wharf in Orange Beach. Keith and partner Frank Capri, CEO of Tony Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, opened their 12th location at The Wharf in 2013 but it was short-lived.
The live music venue and restaurant closed in 2015 but the remnants remain such as the stage in the corner, top-quality sound system, stage lighting and massive bar. The space is now occupied by Dick’s Last Resort.
Rest in peace, Toby Keith.
