ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Knitting, crocheting and other fiber arts are created at the Baldwin County Council on Aging at the county’s Central Annex, 22251 Palmer St in Robertsdale.

The group, called the “Yarnspinners,” meets every Wednesday, from 9 to 11 a.m.

“The participants make lap robes for the veterans’ home and baby things for the USA Medical Center,” said Beverly Dickerson, the office administrator.

The “10 or so” members that flock to a back room of the center use donated yarn to create the items later donated to the hospital or veterans home.

Those with yarn or other supplies to donate should call the center at 251-972-8506.

She noted the knitters, crocheters and other fiber enthusiasts are free to make their own items while meeting with like-minded people. All seniors are welcome.

It was a small group at the center when Baldwin People’s camera was there. The ladies said the cold weather that day kept several members away.
