Contenū will host its annual Wellness & Healing Retreat on Aug. 26, offering healthcare professionals, caregivers, first responders and others in high-stress professions a day focused on renewal, resilience and personal well-being.

The nonprofit organization, which supports individuals impacted by serious illness, their loved ones and the professionals who care for them, will hold the retreat from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Learning Campus at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, according to a news release.

The event is designed for healthcare professionals, behavioral health professionals, caregivers, first responders and others whose work involves caring for and supporting others through difficult circumstances. Participants will take part in interactive wellness experiences, guided reflection, educational sessions and networking opportunities with peers who understand the emotional demands of caregiving and crisis response.

A new addition to this year’s retreat is a silent auction that will raise funds for employees of the Crisis Center of Alabama. Proceeds will support wellness and healing opportunities for the organization’s staff in recognition of the work they do serving individuals and families experiencing crises across the state.

“Those who dedicate their lives to caring for others often neglect their own well-being,” Executive Director of Contenū Kelly Jones-Swenson said in the release. “This retreat is an opportunity to remind healthcare professionals, caregivers, and crisis responders that their health matters, too. We are especially honored to support the employees of the Crisis Center of Alabama through this year's Silent Auction as a way of thanking them for the compassionate and lifesaving work they do in our communities.”

Contenū said it believes investing in the wellness of caregivers helps strengthen the communities they serve. Through programs, educational resources, advocacy efforts and healing experiences, the organization works to help individuals and professionals build resilience while navigating life’s most challenging moments.

Community members and businesses are invited to contribute items for the silent auction, including products, services, gift certificates, travel experiences, artwork and other donations. Sponsors and donors will be recognized for their contributions, which help make wellness opportunities available to professionals who spend their careers serving others.

Healthcare professionals, caregivers, community partners and supporters are encouraged to attend the event.
