Consignment sale designed to help shoppers, sellers

SPANISH FORT, Ala.—You certainly don’t have to spend money to make money at Jennifer Hammond’s children’s and maternity consignment sale, but the local mother of two is banking on people doing a healthy amount of both in a bid to help both shoppers and sellers make the most of a sour economy.

“It’s an opportunity for people to earn a little extra money and then turn right around and stretch it even further by getting essential items their kids need from shoes to everyday clothing,” Hammond said.

The Savvy Mom Sale, slated for May 7-9 at the Gathering Place in Spanish Fort, offers consignors a base return of 65 percent on all sales—except for those who opt to take part in Saturday’s half-price promotion—and the potential to recoup as much as 75 percent of the item’s sale value.
