Tommy Gene Conlee, 67, a longtime resident of Mobile and Fairhope, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at his home after a long, valiant battle with cancer.

He graduated from Marian Military Institute in 1960 and with a degree in chemistry from the University of Alabama in 1964.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne and retired from Ciba Specialty Chemicals after 35 years. He was an avid sailor and a member of the Fairhope Yacht Club and the U.S. Power Squadron.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hurbert Thomas Conlee, and daughter, Virginia Beckam Conlee.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Conlee of Fairhope; his mother, Jimmie Conlee of Fairhope; four children, Marian (Robert) Reynolds of Daphne, Wayne Vannoy of Mobile, Matthew (Pamela) Vannoy of Seadrift, Texas, and Jason (Katie) Vannoy of Daphne; nine grandchildren, Robbie, Caleb and Ginger Reynolds of Daphne, Leah, Hannah and Sarah Vannoy of Clanton, Matthew and Kelsey Vannoy of Seadrift, Texas, and Emma Grace Vannoy of Daphne.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne. Rosary will be at 9:45 a.m. and visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Mercy Medical Catherine Place or to the American Cancer Society. The family especially wants to thank the close friends and Mercy Hospice, who cared so deeply for Tom in the past few months.
