GULF SHORES - Fiends and ghouls await Halloween visitors to the First Annual Panic Park Haunted Trail Saturday, Oct. 24 from 7 to 10 pm. Haunting every nook and cranny in the Kid’s Park in Gulf Shores are newly awaken Halloween spirits and ghouls who appear only on this particular Saturday night at the Kid’s Park. Admission is $2 per visitor for a guided tour of the haunt.

The haunt features characters and props designed by Brett Meyer. Meyer worked with members of various City of Gulf Shores departments to develop the frightening Haunted Trail. Representatives planning the haunting event are from the Parks and Recreation Department, Public Works, the Thomas B. Norton Public Library, the Gulf Shores Fire and Rescue Department, the South Baldwin Community Theatre and Blonde John’s Surf and Skate Shop.

Family Fun Night

The annual Halloween Family Fun Night sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Gulf Shores invites members of the public to spend a few hours at the Bodenhamer Center in Gulf Shores playing carnival games, walking to win a cake in the Cake Walk or participating in the costume contest.

The games begin Saturday, Oct. 24 from 6 to 8 pm at the Bodenhamer Center. Carnival game tickets are 50 cent each. The costume contest is free and open to Halloween participants ages birth to adult. Free Goodie Bags and free popcorn is available to carnival participants while supplies last. Contact Brigette Reynolds, 968-1424, for information.

Boneyard Bash Costume Party

The second annual Boneyard Bash Halloween Costume Party for pets and their owners is Saturday, Oct. 17 at the City of Gulf Shores Boneyard (a.k.a., the Dog Park). Costumed pets and the owners should meet at the corner of the Bodenhamer Center at Constitution Park for the Pet Parade down to the Bone Yard. Categories for the costume judging include: Best Over All, Most Original, Funniest and Scariest. Following the contest, pet participants can try their luck bobbing for “Howl-O-Weenies.”

Owners can try their luck with the “Ole Bones” stacking contest. Participants race to stack dog bones without the bones falling over.

Participating with the Boneyard Bash will be the Baldwin County Humane Society with pets available for adoption. The public is invited to participate in the howling event!
