BAY MINETTE, Ala. - The Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency will offer Com-munity Emergency Re-sponse Team (CERT) Training Courses.
These courses are offered to educate individuals on how to care for themselves and their neighbors in the aftermath of a major disaster, when first responders are often overwhelmed or unable to respond to crises due to massive numbers of victims, communication failures, road blockages, etc.
The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them how to respond, using basic disaster response skills.
These skills include: Disaster Medical Operations (First Aid, Triage and Treatment), Light Search and Rescue, Fire Safety and Suppress-ion, Terrorism Awareness, Disaster Psychology, CERT Organization and Incident Command System.
The CERT basic course instructors are the Baldwin County emergency response officials.
Participants must attend all three training days.
Sat., April 26, 8 a.m. –
5 p.m.
Sat., May 3, 8a.m. –
5 p.m.
Sat.,, May 10, 8 a.m. –
12 p.m.
The CERT Train the Trainer (Instructor) course will be taught by Mobile County Emergency Management Agency officials.
Participants must attend all three training days.
Mon., April 28, 8:30 a.m.
– 4:30 p.m.
Tues., April 29, 8:30 a.m.
– 4:30 p.m.
Wed., April 30, 8:30 a.m.
– 4:30 p.m.
All training will be held at the Baldwin County Emergency Operations Center in the upstairs training room), at 23100 McAuliffe Drive in Robertsdale.
The CERT Training courses are free of charge and all materials are provided.
Individuals choosing to participate must submit registration forms by Fri., April 11.
