Colonel George Calvin Wallace (Retired), 90, a resident of Annapolis for 43 years and previously of Ft. Meade MD died January 18, 2024, at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was the son of Clarence Jefferson and Mary Ellen Wallace. He was the last of his seven siblings, consisting of two brothers and five sisters. He graduated from Foley High School, along with his loving wife, Louise Underwood. He started his military career with the Foley National Guard, part of the 31st Dixie Division, rising to the rank of Sergeant while enlisted. He then rejoined the Army after graduating from Livingston College. He was later educated at the Australian Army Staff College, Shippensburg University, and the Army War College. He proudly served in Germany, Australia, and twice in Vietnam before retiring in 1979. He was truly a soldier’s soldier.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Butler. George is survived by his wife of 72 years, Louise Wallace; his children, Robert Wallace of Hickory, North Carolina, Sylvia Hardnett of Annapolis and Georgette Wallace of Livermore, Colorado; his grandchildren, Clinton and Anthony Hardnett, John Childre, Elliott and Elizabeth Butler, Rachel and Lana Volz, Rosa Wallace Everson, and Annie Lloyd Nesbitt; 12 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
