Collaborative efforts lead to arrest in Foley shooting incident

Posted

A suspect involved in a recent incident responsible for shattering a family's vehicle with gunshots was identified Feb. 16 by officials according to a news release.

Authorities credited the collaborative efforts of the Criminal Investigations Division for the identification of the suspect involved in a recent shooting incident. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Demetrius Kevon Dailey from Bay Minette, was apprehended following investigative work by detectives, crime analysts and support staff.

According to officials, detectives uncovered crucial evidence at the scene of the original incident, leading to the discovery of an additional vehicle and victim. It was determined that the shooter had targeted the second victim while inadvertently striking the initial victim's vehicle during the attack. Contrary to initial reports suggesting a gun battle, investigators concluded that a lone shooter, exhibiting blatant disregard for public safety, was responsible for the incident.

Following the identification of the suspect and relevant vehicle information, neighboring law enforcement agencies were notified. Baldwin County Sheriff's Deputies successfully located Dailey at a residence in south Fairhope early Feb.  17 morning. The suspect was apprehended without resistance following a thorough search of the premises.

Dailey now faces five counts of Discharging a Firearm into an occupied vehicle, authorities said in the release.

As the investigation remains ongoing, officials have refrained from disclosing further details at this time.
