Matthew Aubrey "8 Mile" Cohron, 19, of Fairhope, formerly of Henderson, Ky., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 at Vanderbilt University Hospital, the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Hopkinsville, Ky., on Thursday.

He was born Jan. 3, 1988 in Henderson, Ky., to Fred and Linda Cohron. He attended Henderson County High School through 10th grade. He was a member of the varsity baseball team, worked at the school bank and maintained a 4.0 GPA.

He moved to Fairhope in 2005 where he graduated, with honors, from Fairhope High School in May of 2006, and was a member of the varsity baseball team.

He began college in the fall of 2006, with a full academic scholarship, at the University of Alabama where he was pursuing a degree in business finance. He was a sophomore at UA, on the President's List and employed in the college judicial office.

While living in Henderson, he was an active member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church. He became an active member of Barnwell Baptist Church in Fairhope and was an active member at Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Fred Cohron II and Harold Coose; great-grandparents, Monroe and Minnie Farley, James Fred and Ruby Cohron Sr.; uncle, Aubrey Cavanaugh; and aunt, Sheran Rehfeldt.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Cohron; father and step-mother, Fred and Robyn Cohron; four sisters and one brother, Lindsay, Lesley, Morgan, Samantha and Freddie Cohron; nephew, Gregory Thompson; niece, Aubrey Thompson; grandparents, Betty Cohron, Malcolm “Fritz” and Marion Springer and Betty Coose; aunts and uncles, Janet and Ken Gill, Cheryl Cohron, Mary Ellen and Kevin Cansler and Lori Springer; great-aunt, Ruth Cavanaugh.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Vann Avenue Baptist Church or Chapel Hill Methodist Church, Henderson, Ky., or Barnwell Baptist Church c/o AWANA, Fairhope.
