Coastal Alabama is emerging as a national hotspot for anglers, according to a new data-driven study by FishingBooker, the world’s largest platform for booking fishing trips.

The study, which analyzed more than 100,000 fishing trips across the United States, highlights Orange Beach, Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, Dauphin Island, Fairhope and Elberta as the state’s top fishing destinations according to a news release.

The ranking reflects a combination of customer satisfaction, charter availability, and booking activity, positioning Alabama’s Gulf Coast as a must-visit region for recreational fishing.

“Coastal Alabama is one of those places where fishing is woven into everyday life,” Vukan Simic, Founder and CEO of FishingBooker, said in the news release. “From big-game offshore trips out of Orange Beach to family-friendly inshore charters around Gulf Shores and Dauphin Island, the region delivers exactly the kind of experiences anglers are looking for.”

WHY COASTAL ALABAMA STANDS OUT

Each town scored highly across multiple categories, including repeat bookings, review scores, and variety of trips. Orange Beach is a year-round hub for offshore, nearshore, and inshore charters with a deep pool of highly rated guides. Gulf Shores combines family-friendly beaches with easy access to productive Gulf waters, appealing to both serious anglers and vacationers.

Dauphin Island offers a quieter island atmosphere with big-fish potential, including redfish, speckled trout, and offshore game fish. Fort Morgan provides a more secluded base while giving anglers direct access to the same rich fisheries as busier neighbors. Fairhope and Elberta contribute with strong local fishing cultures and access to Mobile Bay and coastal backwaters.

1. Orange Beach - Major Gulf charter hub with top-rated guides and year-round action
2. Gulf Shores - Family-friendly beach town with a busy charter fleet

3. Fort Morgan - Quiet coastal strip with easy Gulf access
4. Dauphin Island - Island getaway with a mix of inshore and offshore opportunities
7. Elberta - Rural community close to coastal and inshore fishing grounds
11. Fairhope - Scenic Mobile Bay town with a strong local fishing scene
