Coach: Field triumphs lead students to prosper

SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Mitch Warfield doesn’t really understand the concept of down time.

And considering he coaches football, basketball, track and serves as the Spanish Fort Middle School First Priority sponsor, it’s no wonder.

“I have only taken one day off from football or school since I was hired here and that was the day I moved,” said Warfield, a Bay Minette native who plans to relocate to Spanish Fort soon.

“I feel like there is always something to do from cutting grass or washing jerseys to painting lines on the field. I enjoy working,” he said.

Warfield, who earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of West Alabama, spent a year working as a graduate assistant at Mississippi State University before being recruited to Spanish Fort. While in Starkville, Miss., he said he focused primarily on football recruiting and operations.

Editor’s Note: This is the ninth in an ongoing series designed to introduce readers to some new faces in the Spanish Fort feeder pattern.

Two more teachers will be featured in the Oct. 1 Spanish Fort Sun.
