Clayton Edward "Eddie" Clere, age 75, a native of West Virginia and a resident of Loxley, Alabama, passed peacefully at his daughter's home in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 following a difficult recovery from a severe stroke.
Eddie was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a very active man who loved to dance, socialize with his friends and hike in his favorite destination, Mount LaConte in The Great Smokey Mountains.
He was a long time employee of Eastern Airlines. After leaving Eastern, he started his own company, Clere Homes Inc., as a custom home builder.
Mr. Clere was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Frieda Clere; and his wife, Zuma (Stella) Clere.
He is survived by his sister, Louise (John) Martin of Nixa, Missouri; brother, David (Marge) Clere of Canton, Ohio; his two daughters, Kelly (Mike) Doan of San Antonio, Texas and Kimberly (Gary) Davis of Marshalltown, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jason (Anne) Jordan of Pelham, Alabama, Johnathan (Ashley) White of Pelham, Alabama and Ashleigh Doan of San Antonio, Texas; as well as three great-grandchildren.
Eddie's daughters will host a memorial dance at Loxley Civic Center on Dec. 18 from 6-8 or 8:30 p.m. They will be serving what he loved most - BLUE BELL ICE CREAM.
Memorial service will be at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort on Dec. 19, from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
