City’s strategic plan could get new look

FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Strategic planning efforts the City Council initiated three years ago should be renewed, a Financial Advisory Committee member said this week.

FAC member Stan Grubin said the chairman of the city’s strategic planning committee feels that efforts started by that committee are “in suspension.”

Grubin recommended that the council revisit the status of strategic planning efforts and take steps to bring additional accountability to the process and action plans.

“It should be an all-encompassing strategic plan,” Grubin said at the March 27 meeting. “The city has to own it. I don’t know that anyone in the city is handling this now. I feel the plan needs to be captured in writing.”

FAC chairman Chuck Zunk said the strategic planning item would be included on its April 23 meeting agenda, noting that CityAdministrator Gregg Mims, who was absent from this week’s meeting, could participate in the discussion at that time.
