Church’s school uniform giveaway in its fifth year

ORANGE BEACH — Baldwin County students in need of school uniforms and school supplies may get them free at Peace Lutheran Church.

The Peace School Uniform Program, now in its fifth year, will provide three uniform sets and school supplies for each child.

A written or verbal referral from one of the following is required to receive uniforms and supplies: Christian Service Center, Catholic Social Services, Ecumenical Ministries, Baldwin County churches and Baldwin County Schools.

Registration forms are available at these sites or registration may be completed by calling Arlene Wiles, uniform program chairperson, at 251-967-3629 or the church at 251-974-2545.

Registration information includes sizes for each child and parent contact information. After registration is complete, parents may pick up uniforms and supplies at the church at 8250 Roscoe Road, off the Foley Beach Express, one-half mile south of County Road 12. Volunteers will be at the church to deliver uniforms to parents.

Parents who wish to donate outgrown school uniforms to the Peace program may drop them off at the church administration building behind the sanctuary building.

Church volunteers will launder and mend uniforms as needed. Monetary donations for uniforms and school supplies are also much appreciated and may be brought to the church or mailed to Peace Lutheran Church, 8250 Roscoe Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.

Since 2008, Peace has supplied uniforms and supplies to more than 7,500 students in Baldwin County. From a one-day uniform distribution event five years ago, the program is now available all year to help families with uniforms and supplies.

The school uniform ministry is sustained through donations from the public and a grant from the Lutheran Thrivent Foundation.

For more information, call the church at 251-974-2545 or visit the Peace website at peacelutheranal.org.
