Church steeple recycled for a second ministry

Posted

SILVERHILLE, Ala. — The Silverhill First Baptist Church steeple sat on top of the church for many years. After recent roof renovation it was decided to retire the steeple. The pastor at neighboring Zion Lutheran Church thought it could have a home in a tornado area in the Midwest where a church had been severely damaged. So, one day last fall, the steeple was taken from its parking spot in the back of the Baptist church and moved to storage on the Steve and Becky Vasko’s homestead south of Silverhill. It was later determined that the relocation of the 30-foot-long steeple to the Midwest was not feasible. But another purpose was found for it. Now the steeple is at Elsanor’s Home of Grace where it will grace the chapel being developed by that ministry.
