FOLEY, Ala. — The City of Foley and the Revitalization and Beautification Advisory Board will hold the 26th Annual Christmas in the Park celebration at the Heritage Park pavilion and John B. Foley Park on Friday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.

"We are excited about this year's celebration and invite and encourage businesses and organizations to be a part of Christmas in the Park 2007 by participating in the Christmas tree and card decorating contests," said Carolyne Hollis, chairperson for Christmas in the Park.

"Last year we were pleased to have 16 entries in the tree decorating contest and six entries in the first card decorating event. The trees and cards provide a tremendous amount of enjoyment to the community and are displayed throughout the Christmas season."

To be a part of the tree decorating and/or card display in Heritage Park, all that is needed is an application form which can be obtained at Foley City Hall or by contacting Rachel Keith at 943-1545.

The criteria for tree and card entries are as follows:

• Heighth of trees should be between six and eight feet.

• All trees must be cut or in containers (no artificial trees) and must be securely tied down.

• All trees must have a sign stating the "theme" and identifying the business and/or organization.

• All decorations must be securely attached to tree limbs so they will not blow off in wind or rain.

• The card should be made using two 4' X 4' hinged sections of outdoor plywood.

• The plywood should be painted/decorated to resemble a Christmas card.

• The card should identify the business and/or organization.

• The applicant or a designee must be responsible for maintenance and any upkeep of the tree and/or card while on display.

• The live, decorated tree or card should be set up for display at Heritage Park on Wednesday, Dec. 5, or Thursday, Dec. 6, to be in place for judging on Friday, Dec. 7.

• The tree and/or card may be removed beginning Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, but no longer than Friday, Jan. 4, 2008.
