The Christian Service Center’s annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser returned Feb. 23 at the Gulf Shores Methodist Church auditorium with record-breaking results.
According to a news release, the event drew the support of the local community and raised more than $60,000 to support the Center’s programs providing food and emergency financial aid to low-income families in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan.
Organizers credited the event’s success to a dedicated team of 102 volunteers, including cooks, servers, ticket sellers and cleanup crews. The group featured 10 scouts, an exchange student and four high school students earning community service credits.
“Since its inception in 2003, this fundraiser has become the heart of our efforts,” organizers said in the release.
This year, the dinner sold more than 900 tickets and served over 800 meals, a dramatic increase from the 200 dinners served in the first year. Contributions from generous sponsors, raffle donors, and community supporters helped boost the total funds raised.
The Christian Service Center continues to rely on events like the Spaghetti Dinner to meet the growing needs of families facing financial hardship in the region.
