Chris John Anderson Sr., a native of Staten Island, New York and a resident of Summerdale, Alabama, passed away at home on Wed., Mar. 6, 2024. He was 75. Chris was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1968 to 1970. Chris was born on Sat., Feb. 5, 1949, to Russell and Marguerite (née McCarthy) Anderson at the Staten Island Hospital. He will always be remembered for his genuine spirit and sarcastic wit. Some of his best days were spent during summer weekends at the Tradewinds Beach Club in Sea Bright, New Jersey with family and friends in the late 80s and early 90s. He was very proud of his three sons and their families. The last 18 years of his life were spent in Lower Alabama where he enjoyed spending time with his longtime girlfriend Joan Kressler, who was a true blessing in his life, and his beloved basset hound Molly.
Chris is survived by his three sons, Chris J. Anderson Jr. (Agnes) of Middletown, New Jersey; Edward C. Anderson and Marc D. Anderson (Pamela), both of Foley, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Jack, Dean, Reilly and Ricky; James and Kaitlyn; and Caden and Odette; three brothers, Russell Anderson (Lucy) of Delray Beach, Florida; Tom Anderson (Elise) of Martinsburg, West Virginia; and James Anderson (Barbara) of Las Vegas; Gregory Mason, who he considered a son, of Arizona; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in New Jersey, where at his request in his will, the Queen song, “Another One Bites the Dust” will be played.
