FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Friends of the Fairhope Public Library are throwing an early Valentine’s party, and it promises to be a sweet treat for all.
On Saturday, Feb. 9, at the library, the Friends host A Library Lover’s Chocolate and Champagne Fantasy. From 7 to 9 p.m., chocolate aficionados will sip champagne and enjoy chocolates and decadent desserts paired with fine wines especially selected to complement the chocolate.
“We think this event is a first for Fairhope, and we hope that all chocolate aficionados will come join us for what we think will be a really enjoyable evening,” said Brenda Huchingson, Friends president. “We suggest that you dine out at one of Fairhope’s fine restaurants, and then come to the library for wonderful desserts, wines and fun.”
Tickets for this tasteful evening are $25 person and are on sale now at the library and at Page and Palette. Tickets sold at the door the night of the event will be $30 per person.
“We certainly encourage you to buy your tickets in advance,” Huchingson said.
The evening will also include a fabulous silent auction and an exciting live auction, featuring the ever-popular Mike Lyons as emcee.
“Merchants and others have been very generous, and we have some fabulous items for our auctions,” said Mary Gregg, silent auction chair. “Just to name a few items, we have a Celebrity Fantasy cruise out of New Orleans, original art, gourmet meals from many great restaurants, a highboy from Standard Furniture, a beautiful string of freshwater pearls and other jewelry, a round of golf, spa treatments, a year’s membership at Thomas Hospital’s Wellness Center, tools, gift baskets and much more.”
In addition to the auction, lucky guests will walk away with a variety of fun door prizes that will be given away throughout the evening.
All proceeds from the evening benefit the book collection and technology improvements at the library.
“It’s a busy time of the year, but we think this is the perfect post-Mardi Gras event,” said Frieda Ward, event chair. “Mark your calendars and buy tickets now for A Library Lover’s Chocolate and Champagne Fantasy, Saturday, Feb. 9. We think it’s going to be a fun evening, and of course all the proceeds go to the library, so it’s a great cause, too.”
