Daphne’s Eady, Mathews go abroad to London; Fairhope’s Bossard, Foley’s Therrell perform at Citrus Bowl

A trio of Eastern Shore cheerleaders, as well as Foley High School’s mascot Leo the Lion, represented Baldwin County at Varsity All-American events through the Universal Cheerleaders Association last week.

Daphne’s Kamden Eady and Julie Mathews traveled abroad to London to march in the New Year’s Day Parade. Eady and Mathews are both seniors on the Trojans’ cheerleading squad.

The following day at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fairhope’s Michelle Bossard and Laylah Therrell, who has served as Foley’s Leo the Lion the last six years, were part of the on-field performances at the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. The pair are also both seniors for their respective high school teams.

Therrell was performing in her second straight Citrus Bowl where Leo the Lion was part of the All-American mascots that made their way to Orlando to participate in the postseason festivities.

Leo the Lion has also earned the title of Best Mascot from the last three Best of Baldwin events hosted by Gulf Coast Media. Find out if this year will mark a fourth straight title next month.
