Charles Eldon “Don” Wright Jr., died Thursday, March 24, 2011, peacefully at home with his loving wife of 54 years at his bedside, along with the two faithful dogs of the family.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the VP16 Navy Air Corps.

He was a resident of Daphne for the past 18 years. He was born in Clinton, Tenn., the son of the Rev. C. Eldon Wright Sr. and Nettie Blanc of Knoxville, Tenn. His mother died when he was 8 years old.

Prior to his retirement and his move to Daphne, he was an electrical engineer in California. He was an active and enthusiastic sports fan. He enjoyed attending the sports events of the local schools. He was a member of the Lake Forest Golf Association as well as the Seniors Golf Club. For 17 years, he and his wife delivered “Meals on Wheels” to local residents.

He was an active member of the Eastern Shore Baptist Church in Daphne.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wright; niece, Lori Blair of Kingsport, Tenn.; and a nephew, David Cook of Middleboro, Ky.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Monday, March 28 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeal Home, Daphne, with a Celebration of Life service at 10 a.m. from funeral home chapel.
