Charles C. Phillips, 79, born in Hattiesburg, Miss. and a resident of Orange Beach, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollon and Arzella Phillips; and grandson, J. Gary Lee Jr.
He leaves behind a loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Betty Barron Phillips; a son, Jimmy Phillips of Morgan City, La.; three daughters, Sherry (Gary) Lee of Mobile, Cindy (Kenny) Michel of Morgan City, La. and Dena (Don) McKee of Dauphin Island; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Arva Etta (Walt) Sylvester and Marie (Bob) Burge of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and numerous nieces, nephews and his extended church family.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Orange Beach, the Jones County (Miss.) Amateur Radio Club and the Bear Point Civic Association.
The family wishes to acknowledge the caring staff of Gentiva Home Health Services.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 2 p.m.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Grantham Cemetery in Hattiesburg, Miss.
