Charity Chukkers Polo Event raises $46,400 for Palm Project

The Baldwin County Education Coalition raised $46,400 for Palm Project during its 2nd Annual Charity Chukkers Polo Event on Saturday, May 2, at February Farm in Fairhope.

Presented by Shirlee's Kids Charitable Foundation, the fundraiser drew 194 attendees for an afternoon centered on polo, philanthropy and community support, a news release said. Guests enjoyed a polo match, lunch, tailgating, networking opportunities, raffles and giveaways while supporting programs that benefit students across Baldwin County.

Proceeds from the event will support Palm Project, a countywide initiative that stocks care closets in Baldwin County public schools with essential items provided at no cost to students or schools. The program is designed to help students access resources they need to feel supported, confident and prepared to learn.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the 2nd Annual Charity Chukkers such a success," Terry Burkle, executive director of the Baldwin County Education Coalition, said in the release. "From our sponsors and attendees to our volunteers and community partners, this event is a reflection of what makes Baldwin County so special. Because of their generosity, Palm Project will be able to continue meeting real needs for students in our schools."

Now in its second year, Charity Chukkers has become a signature community event for the coalition, combining the sport of polo with fundraising efforts that directly support local students. Despite early weather concerns, attendees gathered at February Farm for what organizers described as a memorable afternoon of fellowship and philanthropy.

The coalition thanked Shirlee's Kids Charitable Foundation for serving as presenting sponsor along with the donors, volunteers, sponsors and attendees who contributed to the event's success.

"We are proud to see this event continue to grow and generate such strong support for Palm Project," Burkle added. "Every dollar raised helps provide essential items to students who need them, removing barriers and helping them focus on learning."
